Introduction to the Projector
It began with Thomas Edison's 1894 Kinetoscope,the first projector which provided views of images though with limited viewing audiences.
By 1895, several projectors that enlarged film images for viewing by
larger groups are invented :
the Cinematographe, by Auguste and Louis Lumiere; the Woodville Latham
family's idoloscope;
and the Phantoscope of Charles Francis Jenkins and Thomas Armat, of
Washington, DC; which became the basis of Edison’s next projector Vitascope.
And the world's love affair with projector continues... even in the fields that never have been explored before: business presentation, multimedia home theatre, video conferencing and many more.
At the century mark, pictures--with their power to both mirror and manipulate, to blur fact and fiction, to romanticize, to vilify,to enlighten--remain one of our strongest forms of expression.
Together, with the advancement of multimedia and computer technology,
image quality and portability of projector become a must—something that
Helios does best !
